EDU, Europe’s first digital Higher Education Institution, offers digital collaborative degree programmes in Health, Medicine and Education. At EDU’s Medical faculty, students learn from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and take part in three clinical rotations a year in teaching hospitals. Within the EDU model, the physician teachers and instructors who guide students through their practical training are the only geographically fixed requirements. The entire theoretical curriculum can be produced and managed globally from anywhere for anywhere. This core design is what enables EDU to provide medical and healthcare students anywhere in the world with an education at the highest standards, as well as positioning EDU to contribute to close the healthcare shortage in rural, underdeveloped and underserved regions.
EDU is committed to the achievement of the third sustainable development goal of the United Nations, “ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all people at all ages,” which is obtainable if global barriers to equitable healthcare in rural regions are overcome. Achieving equity in healthcare amongst rural populations would lead to an enormous increase in economic productivity, driving forward progress against poverty and hunger, promoting gender equality and education, birth control, and infrastructural and environmental improvements.
